Connecting nikon d5100 to laptop?

Am planning to take short film using my d5100. I need the live view of the cam to display on my laptop while am shooting… Is der any software for that? Which is the best software? How can i connect it with my usb cable or HDMI cable? I knw it can be connect'd to HDMI TV.buti want to get that live view in my laptop… Please help

Go to the Nikon site and see if the software that they have for such things works with the D5100. I only know what works with the D4. I'm curious why you want to monitor on your computer rather than a monitor.
