Connecting a mic to dslrs?
Kacey
Which DSLR's can you connect a removable mic to? Can you to the Nikon d3100? Just curios
Mmm J
Some dSLRs have an "audio input" or "interface". Tyipcally, this is a 1/8" (3.5mm) stereo jack.
According to this:

the D3100 has only the built-in mono mic and no audio-in connection.
The D7000 does:
Audio recording device Built-in monaural or external stereo microphone; sensitivity adjustable
I think the Canon EOS 5D MkII does.
A few others… They were designed to capture stills - video is a "convenience feature".
