Canon dslrs vs Nikon dslrs in regard to picture quality and lens prices?

I've heard from a professional photography that Nikon is better for picture quality and Canon has a sensor that is faster at proccesing images; particularly useful for videos. Could anyone give any informatIon as to which direction I should go?

Ok your asking the age old question. Personally when I was starting out I went to best buy or whatever camera storoe is around you. Go and physically hold a nikon camera and a cannon.wich ever one feels right I would choose. I have a nikon btw but honestly it all comes down to you. Can you take good pics with the camera.

You heard wrong.
