I want to either buy the canon rebel or the d90. I want a camera that i can over the years buy more lenses for, and don't know which to buy. I'm a very experienced photographer, and want a camera thats in for the long haul. (money is not a big problem in the situation) also, which rebel would be the best? It seems like there's a million different types

The Canon Rebel series are meant as entry level/hobbyist camera. They are well built but lack certain features that a semi pro camera like the D90 has. The top model in the Canon Rebel line is the T2i/550D. It is a good camera and would be ideal if you are wanting to do DSLR video. While the D90 does have a video mode, it is really meant more as a semi pro camera because of its better build and broader feature set. The Canon 50D is more comparable to the Nikon D90 than any of the Rebel cameras.

For more serious photography, I would choose either the D90 or the 50D.
