Canon image vs nikon image?

So i have a d3100 and my friend has a canon t1 or something. I think my image quality is better but i noticed that his camera has a cool effect when taking videos. Its like a little yellowish and he said he just turned the color settings to vivid. I did the but mine doesn't do it.
is it just the canon?

While your images may look better than your friends, it may have more to do with your skills using your camera

Yellow shift in a photo or video shows that your friend did not set the white balance correctly, it is NOT an attribute.

It is much better to shoot all your images with the camera set to neutral and later in post production make any changes you want. If you were to shoot in Vivid, there's no way to undo it if it turns out too saturated.

Once you left P&S cameras and bought a dSLR, you needed to forget all the cutesy things that P&S cameras had on them.

If your really, really want to shoot in the vivid mode, look on page 94 of your user manual

Look for "Picture Settings" (I think). You CAN choose "vivid" and a few other settings or your camera. I think you can even make and save custom color profiles.
