Can I use a vivitar shutter release for my nikon d7000?

Alex
I'm getting into long exposures. Do I need a nikon one in order for it to work? Or can I have any shutter release?

Matt
You need one that works specifically with Nikons. You don't have to buy a Nikon branded one, but it has to be for Nikon cameras.
