Camera Flash for D80?

I want to gift my husband a camera flash. He has a Nikon D80 and my budget isn't very high.(less than 300) (i'm not even sure if there are any flashes available under that price!)
I was wondering if anyone could suggest a nice flash for a reasonable price.
