Best lens for Nikon d7000 for macro and portrait?
I was wondering to buy a new lense for my Nikon d7000, is there a lense that can combine macro features and portrait as well! I red that the Nikon macro 105 is very good… As well as the sigma.wich one is better than! And do you know where is a cheap web site where I can get one of them!
With it's long working distance, the 105mm macro can be a good choice for insects. I think it is too long to be best for portraits. The Nikon 60mm AF-S macro would probably be a better portrait lens. The Sigma 70mm macro is also a good choice.
You want to do two different things.
For portraits, either the long end of your existing standard zoom or a 50mm f1.8 for greater speed.
For macro any of the Micro-Nikkors or the cheaper Sigma. Your standard zoom will do portraits as well as any macro lens, at similar speed.
Forget the Sigma - the best inexpensive macro/portrait lens for a Nikon is the Tokina 100mm f/2.8.It is a very sharp lens, and rivals the Nikon 105mm.
And at $445, it is a bargain.
And a whole lot better than the Sigma.
The only problem with the lens is that it is AF, not AF-S. But that is not a problem with your camera as you can autofocus AF lenses as you have the built-in motor in your camera.
But for a practical matter, macro lenses are manually focused most of the time anyway.
It is also a good portrait lens as many macro lenses are.
I own this lens and can highly recommend it.
