What are the best street and portrait lens you can use for the nikon d810? - 1
I would consider the Sigma 35 mm ART lens for street photography and either the 85 mm or 105 mm lens for shooting portraits.
I use an 85mm f1.8 and a 135mm f2.8.
I don't go for wider lenses, because you have to get a lot closer to your subject and that means that they clock you taking their picture.
I want candid street photos where the subject is NOT aware they are being photographed.
It depends upon your shooting style. For general street photography, some prefer the 50mm f/1.4 because of it's "normal" perspective, while others prefer the 35mm f/1.4. Still others will go with a 24-70 f/2.8 because of it's versatility even though it's about 1.5 stops slower.
For portraits, you will want to get a 70-200 f/2.8 or an 85mm prime.

A 50mm with the lowest f/number you can afford.
