Nikon SLR Cameras

Best DLSR camera for a beginner with a budget of under £360?

I have been looking at DLSR's and people have recommened canons or nikons and i don't know which one is best, or one i should get, i have been recommed at the shop for a nikon d3000 or a canon 10000d

however i would like your opinion on what you think is best?

p.s. I would like the camera to come as the body and lens together.

Added (1). Also the nikon is the last one in the shop as it is discontinued and if it broke or anything then i wouldnt be able to get a reaplacement, probally be made to pay the rest of the cost for the new version of it that has just been released.

Personally as a Nikon shooter I'd suggest the D3000. Better noise performance on the sensor.

I wouldn't go for the Nikon D3000 if I were you.
My bro's got one.
The handling isn't great imo.
the ISO is somewhere far in the menu and isn't accessible from a direct button.
the focusing has a mind of its own, and bizarrely i found the same issues on the D3100, its successor.
I don't know the 1000D much but i would chose it in a heartbeat.
have a look at my previous answer, there's one where i give more details about the design flaws i found.
hope this helps.

ps: i'm not a fanboy

Pentax K-x. It is far better specified that the cheaper Nikons and Canons:- http://www.warehouseexpress.com/buy-pentax-k-x-digital-slr-with-18-55mm-lens/p1033548

Easy!

Sony A390. Takes every Minolta AF lens since 1985 and they all auto-focus and are image stabilised (unlike the Nikon!). Plenty of Sony, Minolta, Sigma, Tamron, Tokina etc lenses available for it.

Don't go for Nikon D3000, it's been discontinued. Go for the replacement instead, the Nikon D3100.It's also come with a 18-55mm VR Lens. Unfortunately, it's higher than your budget. Currently Amazon.co.uk sell it at £469. But try to think it this way: "You wouldn't buy a camera on yearly basis, right?" It's better to get one with good features that's still usable for years. That will save you more money in the long run.
