Am i ready for a DSLR?

I have been in photography for more than two years now.
I have been using the GE X5.
Using P&S cameras was a great potential to start with. But i want something more, a DSLR, if i buy one, it sure is gonna be the Nikon D3100, because its proved as the best entry level camera.
Here is my Flickr account:

The Nikon is a million times better than the GE! I'm surprised the GE lasted two years.
Go for it!
FYI, we can't click on the link as you posted it.

You had a GE that lasted 2 years? Wow! With luck that good you should really go to Las Vegas. Get the D3100 it's a good entry level DSLR. The GE may well be the worst digital camera ever made, it's definitely in the running.

Stan is right, two years! Excellent that you got one that lasted even 12-months.
Ready? Well that depends strictly on you. Dslr cameras, and this is no kidding, are intended for serious photographers. By that I mean a person who really wants to learn how to operate it and its lens correctly. Do you understand the relationship between ISO, shutter speed, aperture and light?
If not, are you serious enough to gain that knowledge and skill?
My point is this. If you're going to use it like you've been using your pocket toy, that is the screen as your view finder, camera on full auto then don't waste your money.
If however you're truly serious enough to perhaps take a course and learn the perhaps several hundred things about operating one of the cameras to its full potential then good luck and enjoy.
