Am I going to regret buying this camera?

Well recently I really I've been really interested in photography and I planned on getting the nikon d3100 which is around 600.
Anyways, I'm sacred that I'm not going to like it and just stop using after a couple of months.
If I get this it will be the only gift I will be able to get and if I don't get it I will be able to get a ton of other stuff. (like gift cards to stores, makeup, and stuff like that)
Which one do you think would be better?

I wouldn't get the camera its just like so boring you know? Use the camera on your phone who cares if its not professional.

Depends how into it you are. My brother was really into photography, bought a thousand dollar camera, then sold it. If you're into it, it will be the best purchase you can make. If not, you'll end up selling it.

If you feel that photography could be a new hobbie for you then go for it. That camera is good for beginners and does take good pics. Also you can get so many bits to add on to the camera to enhance it. Just think make up runs out and clothes perrish but if you get a camera it will last for ages. I always play on my camera haven't put it down since i got it.

You should consider getting a less-expensive camera instead of the D3100. Check out these - the Coolpix S6200, Coolpix L120 and Powershot SX150.

Go with a less expensive camera for right now. Try a bridge camera? The Nikon P500 or the Canon SX40 are good choices. Manual controls (like a DSLR) to learn on, super zooms, and all around good cameras. If you bought the D3100 you would have to buy several lenses to achieve what those other 2 can do and both are under $400. Just a suggestion! I was in the same boat as you, but I chose the SX40. If I decide I like photography enough later on, I can always get a DSLR later.

I'm 14 and i had a little everyday camera and started becoming really into photography. I asked for the nikon d3100 for my birthday and i got it, i love it! It's a really good camera, you won't regret it. I now want to be a photographer when i'm older. But what i'm trying to say is, get it!

Many people love that type of camera
the camera takes a lot of time to learn how to use it properly

Don't buy anything as expensive as a DSLR if you are not sure you want it.

If you don't want the D3100 after a few months, just sell it on craigslist or to a camera store and you'll only be losing around $50-$100. My guess is that if you are already having second thoughts before you even get the camera, you definitely won't be using it after a few months.

If you have the money then spend it on what you really want. The Nikon D3100 has Live View and video recording which makes it the first Nikon DSLR to offer 1080p video recording in addition to 720p.
This is a very hot DSLR camera and would be worth the purchase.
