Adobe Photoshop Elements 6?

I was looking on Amazon.com because i was going to buy Adobe Photoshop Elements 6, as i was reading the info on it said that it was the [old version]; Can someone please tell me what that means. Because not to long ago i went to the actual Adobe site and downloaded the trial version of Elements 6. Any answers would be greatly appreciated! P. S: I'm going to be taking my second year of Photography at school would this program be suitable for 2nd year photography and everday Photo editing use. If necessary my camera type is Nikon d3000 and we have windows Vsita.

It means that Adobe has released Elements 7, 8 and currently 9.In another 4 months or so, version 10 might be released. Yes, I think Elements 6 will do very well for you. The print dialog in Elements 8 is a total mess so I don't recommend getting that version. Elements 9 was an improvement over 8 but I still maintain 6 on the computer mainly for printing. Elements 9 has a couple of new features, content aware and masks. Masks has always been in the full Photoshop and is a great editing tool. Now Elements has masks.

Your camera doesn't manner to the version of Elements. However, you might have to update the Adobe Camera Raw plugin for Elements 6 to handle RAW (NEF) files produced by the D3000. This update, if necessary, is free to download from Adobe. There's a memory requirement and processor speed requirement for your computer. Sorry, I don't have that information any longer.
