CANON EOS 7D - NIKON COMPARISON OR BETTER VERSION?

blahblahblah
blahblahblah

I like the features of the Canon EOS 7D, and I was wondering if there was a better version or Nikon comparison with more megapixels for around the same price (NO MORE THAN $3000 AUD).

You kidding, you need even more megapixels?

For viewing pictures on the monitor, 5MP is enough. 10MP is too much for most. 20.don't let me talk.

I need megapixels, our group needs it. But if we weren't printing large and crop, we wouldn't care about - like most of my friends that own studios for families and portraits.

Nikon has the D7000 with 16MP and D300s with 12MP

Here's a post called 'Buying a DSLR, what's important, megapixels, features, brand, price, quality and which one to buy - http://www.the-dslr-photographer.com/2009/03/which-dslr-to-buy.html

The D7000 is the only camera Nikon has which has a comparable amount of MP to the Canon 7D. If you are willing to spend up to $3000 AUD, there are better choices. While MP are important, quality lenses will make a bigger impact on your photography. If I had $3000 to spend, this is what I would consider.

Under $2000

Canon 7D
Nikon D7000
Pentax K5
Sony A850

Over $2000
Canon 5D Mark II
Nikon D700
Sony A900

My choice would be to get the Sony A850 and spend the rest on some high end Zeiss lenses. The A850 is the only sub $2000 full frame camera available. It also has 24.5 MP which makes it ideal for making larger prints. If DSLR video is your main concern, then get the 7D. It has the best video quality of all these cameras.

In the end, choose the camera you feel most comfortable with. All of the ones mentioned are excellent and meant for professional use.

In the end though

Unless you are doing serious, large scale printing, meaning larger then a small car, I doubt you would need more megapixels. More megapixels does not mean higher quality. It means larger picture.

the One, or couple cameras that can be compared to the 7D would be the Nikon D7000
