Canon Camera or Nikon?

Jenny
Jenny

I'm looking to buy my first DSLR camera! Would you suggest Canon or Nikon? Thanks!

Added (1). I have held both in my hand and I may prefer Canons a bit more, but I would like to know what others think as well.

Definantly canon! I have a canon DSLR and it is a great camera! Plus, the canon company is very helpful with repairs and services if you have one near you

Both brands are great, and neither is better than the other. Go to the store and hold some cameras. Buy the one that feels best in your hands.

Either way, you'll end up with a great camera.

I'm suggesting Canon. They're great camera's, easy to use and come with awesome free software to edit your pictures, or even remote control your camera. If you want to do that with a Nikon, you're gonna have to pay a bit too much.

I own the 600D/T3i and it's the best camera I've ever owned. Easy to use, amazing image quality and superb movie quality. But, if you don't want to spent $800 on such camera, I suggest buying the 500D/T1i or the 550D/T2i instead. They're a lot cheaper. Or, buy the 1000D or the 1100D, they're the cheapest in the range and made for people that are looking to buy a first DSLR.

However, although I'm a Canon fan, Nikon has some great camera's too which are easy to use, and pretty cheap as well. Like the D5100. Nice camera for around the same price as my 600D. If you don't want to spend that much, you can also look at the D3100. A lot cheaper and very easy to use.

Remember, it's not what's in the camera, it's what's behind the camera. And that's you. You can shoot great pictures from every camera as long as you willing to learn how to handle the camera. But in terms of easy to use I'd say Canon.

It makes me want to cry how often I see this question posted all over the internet.

It makes me cry even more that people would rather rely on what people tell them as opposed to handling the equipment themselves.

If you are more inclined towards Canon, then go for it. It certainly is a good camera brand.
I use Nikon and Olympus, but I love Canon as well.

Canon is like Ferrari, Nikon is like Porsche! Canon has sharp and accurate colour even at entry level DSLR and packs only what you really need! Nikon is equally good in pro line but not in entry model, they pack everything you don't need like tons of filters and not much pro like features in entry level models. Hence Ferrari is faster than Porsche but in Porsche you can do gorcery shopping and watch tv.

Canon simple and best
Most professional photographers have canon cameras.
And mostly natural geographic photographers also have canon cameras

If you survey long enough, you will reach a point where the score will be tied. If you survey longer, Canon will win because it is undeniably the most popular brand worldwide. Somewhere along the way, probably even at this early stage, other brands may crop up. I assure you. All brands and models are good. All dSLRs are basically the same. It all goes down to brand loyalty or salesmanship.

Me? I suggest Pentax. If you're at the store, look through the viewfinder. You won't find anything brighter than that.

I guess there are a lot of experts here with their opinions. The truth is that there's not enough difference between them to amount to a hill of beans. Whatever feels good in your hands and in your pocket book is the best deal.

But then why limit yourself to those two? Sony and Olympus make excellent cameras also and so does Pentax

No doubt definitely canon camera. I have been using this canon camera and getting satisfactory results with best features.

It is not usually about 'which' camera body you very own as it really is so a lot as which lens you've afforded oneself. My assistance is always to save up all the extra money you'll be able to to obtain the greater lenses prior to getting the more high-priced camera bodies like a Canon 5dii and even the Canon 7d, unless you're really wanting to complete video proper off the bat at the same time. If you're really concentrated on functioning on photography, skip the video function and go having a DSLR that does not have it. The Canon 5d's are that excellent body, but in the event you require one thing more affordable, there's constantly the Canon 40d and 50d. Excellent luck
