Can't get filter off lens?

I threaded the filter on my lens incorrectly… Right now it is stuck on. I have attempted removing it and I can't. I've never done this before.

Has anyone done this? Any suggestions? Thanks.

If it matters it is a Nikon 18-105mm f/3.5-5.6 with a B+W UVA filter.

You cross threaded it. With any luck you destroyed the filter and not the thread on your lens.

You can try using one of those rubber pads used to open a jar to get it off.

If it still won't budge you can try heating or cooling it. Nothing colder than a refrigerator, and nothing warmer than a hair dryer.

Make sure you when you are wrenching on it, that you do not hold the lens by a moving part, or have it attached to the camera.

If none of that works, you can send it in to be repaired.

Tim has some good suggestions. Also give this a try; it worked for me when I had a slightly bent filter stuck to one of my lenses.

Take a rubber band and wrap it around the filter. Hopefully the band will create enough friction to allow you to turn it.

The best thing is the get the filter and open it right away with extra force
because id you play with you might damage it more
also whatever damage you have done is there already and does not matter what you do damge is there
grab the filter and lens and twist so hard to get it out
it happen to me
and do not worry about it yo are not the first one doing this
still you will be able to use it
