Best portrait lens for Nikon?

I have a Nikon D3300 DSLR. I'm looking for the best lens that shows a lot of Blair around the object that the camera is focusing on. What is the best portrait lens to buy?

There may be no "best" portrait lens. Each has its own attributes that a photographer can take advantage of. Maybe an excellent one is Nikon's AF-S NIKKOR 50mm f/1.8G. It is sharp, it is of a good focal length for portraits, and it is relatively inexpensive (about $230).

Get a 60mm Micro Nikkor AF-s and you have macro and portrait covered in one lens.

Any lens with an aperture of 2.8 or larger with a focal length of 50-100mm is usually a good bet. Longer focal lengths are also acceptable.

If you're looking for portraits with a lot of Blair, It'll be difficult to get more than this…

Try a 50mm. Get the lowest f/numbered version you can afford.

Get a prime lens of 50mm or 85mm with a max aperture of 1.8 or 1.4.
