Will the cost of the Nikon d7000 go down in price?

I've noticed that since the announcement of the new Nikon d7100 the prices for the d7000 have dropped slightly… By $200-300. Will the price drop even more once the d7100 comes out at the end of this month?

I'm interested in purchasing the d7000 however it's a bit out of my price range right now. I'm willing to wait to save the extra money for it and a price drop would help me out.

Save the extra money. My girlfriend is a photography and is in the same situation.
We decided to go for D7100.

Look at the Pentax K-30, then.

It's cheaper, a better camera on paper, and comes from the company that built the first Japanese SLR, perfected the instant-return mirror and pioneered TTL metering.

Hey kids i'm gonna throw my small bit of knowledge in here. I sell cameras for a living so I was debating this same question the other day. Here's what I heard: I don't know if you've been looking at these new compact system cameras or not, but they're kicking but and taking names. I sell more of those than DSLRs every single day. They exploded so fast that Canon kinda just threw one out to keep up and Nikon wasted their first compact system racehorse on that ashton kutcher marketing nightmare. So Sony is sweeping up with the NEX series. Canon and Nikon didn't think they would stay past the year because they seemed too much like a fad. But they're just turning out to be what everyone didn't know they wanted haha.
My point is, the CS cameras are picked to shut down DSLR sales this year, which means all major retailers are going to be doing some re-prioritizing come January, and you can grab up a 7000 for nothing! Stores are gonna need the space!

It has probably already dropped as much as it is going to.

While compact system cameras, such as the NEX are a challenge to the entry level cameras, they are not - at least yet - refined enough to challenge the higher end DSLRs.

For instance, all but the NEX-5R use contrast detection focusing - which is compact camera technology, and not as good as DSLR focusing systems. And the NEX cameras still have a significant shutter delay, again, more like compact cameras. If you want fast action photos, you still need to go with a DSLR.

And finally, the lens selection for the NEX cameras is awful.
