Will a Cameron lens fit on my Nikon?

I'm looking at buying a used Cameron Multi-coated (MC) neutral density (and) 67mm filter for my Nikon 18-105mm lens with a 67mm diameter. I'm wondering if the Cameron will do the job.

It will fit. Not sure on quality though.

I use B+W and Hoya filters.

Tiffen and Heliopan make fine filters as well.

There are only a few reasons to use a filter

1) as a way to protect the front element of the lens from sticky fingers, mud, rain and dust.
2) to polarize images to reduce reflections and enhance the northern or southern skys (deeper blue sky)
3) and filters to lengthen the the time the shutter can be left open to make water appear like cotton.

In the past we used colour correction filters when the only film we had was daylight and tungsten. We used these filters to correct for lighting conditions other than daylight and tungsten (shade, overcast, fluorescent. And other light sources.

Now we have the ability to set the white balance in the digital cameras to match pretty much any lighting situation. We also have the ability to use product like Colorchecker to nail white balance.

Your basic question is will a 67 mm filter fit on the 67 mm filter thread on your lens. The answer is pretty clear… Or should be.

EDIT:

When most pros are shooting in a controlled space like a studio, they remove the filters because they don't have to worry about their lens getting dirty.

There are other times when we remove the filter before shooting, but we put them right back on at the end of the shoot unless the lens did get dust or something else on it.

Sunday, I shot a marathon and my lens got dusty out in the desert. I waited until I got home so I could carefully remove that dust from my lens without scratching it. I first used a blower to remove all the visible dust on the lens. I next used a micro fiber cloth the gently remove any dust from the lens until under strong light I could not see any remaining dust. Then I cleaned the filter and placed it on lens as the primary protection. The lens cap was added as secondary protection.

Am I being over cautious? Maybe for a $100 lens, but when I use lenses that cost in excess of $6, 000 each, you can see why I spend so much time cleaning them and adding a filter to keep them clean until the next time I use them. Whether the lens costs $50 or $12, 000, I treat them all the same

It will fit your lens but I'm unfamiliar with the Cameraon brand. I've used B+W, Tiffen and Hoya filters for over 40 years and recommend them.
