Dad bought me a nikon camera with lens but the lens doesn't fit?
He got me a nikon camera and lens for my birthday but the lens doesn't fit the camera is a d70 and the lens is ix-nikkor are these two actually compatible or not
If not what lens so you suggest looking for?
The Nikon web site probably has the right lens for sale. If the camera was new, you could return it. Used lenses are abundant and fairly inexpensive, but if it's an expensive lens, have it checked out by an expert before you buy it.
Not. Here is a write up on the lenses. Basically they are of an old design and won't work on DSLRs.

Suggest you get a Nikon 18-55mm lens that is often the kit lens with Nikon entry level cameras. A used one from keh.com would be the most economical but safe lens.
