Why are my photos taking up so much room on my phone?

I only have 140 photos, and it's using 11.6 gb ( that's only my pictures) ? How does that make any sense? Is it the size of my photos? Some photos (maybe 10-20) I took with my Nikon.

If you have your dslr pictures on the phone, that explains a LOT. Especially if you have edited any of the pics from the dslr. I have plenty of image files that are 1-2g or more, just for an individual image or graphic design.

On the other hand, straight from the camera i just had 200 pics on my 4g card.

Are you sure its all photos, and thats not also counting your music and apps or other files?
