i want it for photography

Added (1). I just finished school actually and i want to work with camera stuff… I know about other cameras like pentax so you can also suggest one other than these two options.

NIkon is generally sturdier, but more expensive.

Canon is less expensive though, and more variety.

The technology is pretty much equal.

Neither is better - it's a Pepsi/Coke thing, some people prefer one, some the other & some prefer Pentax, Olympus or Sony.

The ONLY way to decide what camera is right for YOU is to go into a proper camera shop & try out all the models in your price range.

Check for button position, menu choices & general weight & 'feel'.

Buy whichever one feels right for you.

"i want it for photography" - well that's just as well then as they *are* cameras! ;^)

Neither. Either. This is a pointless question, ignoring as it does the fact that there are more makers of DSLR's than Canon and Nikon, excellent though their products may be. It also ignores the very wide range of DSLR's produced by all the major manufacturers, as it is phrased in such a way as to presume that Canon and Nikon make only one model each. Has your no doubt extensive research involved, at any point, the actual handling of a real camera? If not, perhaps you ought to consider this as a deciding factor. The partisan answers from rival protagonists of both Canon and Nikon can be safely ignored.

Had many years dealing with both. No difference in quality whatsoever. But in my dealings with Nikon they attempted to be dishonest in their service with me. I don't like such dealings as this, and would NEVER anticipate dealing with such a manufacturer again, so my present gear is Canon and will remain so.

I find canon more user friendly and intuitive. Also a bit lighter weight so generally more comfortable to hold as a woman). What i would recommend is to test both models and see which one feels the best.

Honestly don't listen to anyone… Its all about the iphones camera… Jkjk

But seriously, Nikon is awesome (thats what I prefer out of the two)
but Canon is great too.

they both have their strengths over each other

Pro for Nikon (these are strong facts, not just opinion)
Higher ISO performance
Lower noise
More naturally saturated images
more accurate auto white balance
RAW files are easier to edit, more options
More lens (even manual/film lens work with DSLRs)
invented ED glass

Pro for Canon
better video with higher fps
low saturation (if thats your thing)
Some of their higher end dslr have moer FPS than nikons high ends
most of them have higher megapixels
their auto focus is built into the lens and not the body (this was a major deal back when invented but not so much now)
Invented UD glass

But what it comes down to is, what connects to you… Not us, if its your camera.
think about how it feels (not just in your hand, or up your face, but how you really feel about it emotionally and spiritually sounds weird buts its true.)

check this out cuz i already touched on this.

happy shooting.
