What is a really great camera?

So this summer I had purchased a Nikon J1 camera. It comes with changeable lenses and it's pretty small so I can take it everywhere with me. However as soon as the battery drops below 100% even the TINIEST bitt, it won't properly focus and it's really frustrating because I paid quite a bit for it. Now I'd like to get a new camera instead that is still closer to professional than the little hand held cameras but not too complex… Easy enough to figure out without needing a whole lesson just on how to operate it.
It needs to have great battery life as well as an auto focus option.

Any advice will help!

Get the Nikon 3100 or 3200, I have now the Nikon 3100 and it's amazing! My photography teacher even recommended, I took it to Disneyland and had it on all day and it still had full battery and it can also record

I really like the Nikon 3100. You can Film and or take pictures! Its a great image!

You need to go to the DSLR level if you want any more quality out of the camera than the J1.

Nikon D3200.

I just purchased the sony cyber-shot dsc-hx200v and it is incredible! Not too big but still takes amazing photos, has a good zoom and takes movies
