I'm looking to buy a really great camera-Is Nikon or Canon Better?

I want to spend around 700 or less-which will give me professional results. I want to capture digital images and video.

This kind of of question is bound to cause a few arguments but if your looking for a good mix of the two i recently bought the Canon 600D and it is fantastic especially for video but still takes cracking photos. Its fairly cheap (around £500) but this gives you extra money for a good starter lens.

"Professional " results are a result of the photographer, not the camera. I can get nice photos with my friends $130 point & shoot.
In your price range, I'd look at a Nikon D5100.
BTW, Nikon & Canon are equal.

Define really great. Professional results aren't just something that pops out of a camera, otherwise everyone with $700 would be a professional. If you don't know what to do with the controls and the camera, it won't look professional. If your subject is boring, a camera can't make it look good. If you're taking pictures of a boring location, it won't look professional. I'm sure you're the one who decides what to shoot, not the camera.

Canon EOS T3, T2i, Nikon D3100 and Pentax K-r would be the best.

I say Canon is the best, someone says Nikon. Where's the point? They're all good.

Neither is better, and neither will give you professional results (that will be up to you, the photographer).
