Should I upgrade Canon 600D (T3i) to Nikon D5200 for Photography as well as Videography?

I'm canon user & currently I've using Canon 600D. But personally I'm not fully satisfied with my 600D in terms of Photography. But in terms of Cinematography it's a great camera & using with Magic Lantern it's awesome. After watching your video personally my vote goes to Nikon D5200 because it's comes with full manual control in video mode like my canon as well as great features for photography. 39 AF points & 24.1 MP really worth investment. But my question is can I switched from Canon to Nikon? I'm doing in studio photography as well as prewedding, event, music cinematography & my working ratio photography: viddeography is 40:60. Please I need a proper advice.
Your personal opinion please.
Appreciate.

There's no reason you can't get perfectly good still images on your Canon as you do video - it's pointless switching brands (& I say that as a Nikon shooter).

Forget focus points & MP - what you ahve is more than sufficient. Personally, I only ever use single point AF anyway *I* like to decide where I place my focus, rather than the camera. Particularly for your portrait work, you really should be looknig at single point focus.

Why, exactly, are you not satisfied with image quality? Because that camera is more than capable of stunning images in the right hands, which makes me think that it's more down to user error & you are being taken in by sales hype.

I agree fully with deep blue. I see the Nikon as no "upgrade" to what you have. I'm thinking what really needs upgrading is your skill set. I also ONLY use single point auto focus, and the extra megapixels on the Nikon are totally meaningless. If you think these things are going to magically give you better photos, then you definitely need to work on your knowledge and abilities as concerns photography in general.

It's a bit higher in total megapixels.
Otherwise, there's little if any difference.
If you're not "fully satisfied" with your camera in terms of photography, the issue is your own skill (or lack thereof) -- a new camera that's hardly different at all won't magically fix that.

If you switch to Nikon, none of your lenses will work. You'll have to buy all new ones. Something to consider as well.

Really, you are doing "prewedding, event, music cinematography." You must have a lot of money invested in high quality lenses. If that is the case, then switching from canon to Nikon is a silly thing to do unless you are very rich, because you will need to replace all that glass. I have way more money invested in lenses and accessories that are specific to Canon than the cost of my camera body. If the body were not cutting it, then I would just upgrade the body.

But you have a basic kit camera, and probably only a basic kit lens. So you think that a few more MP and more AF points will make better photos. You are wrong, but hey, that is what you think. You are way better off spending the $700 or so you will spend on the Nikon and a new kit lens for a new and high quality lens for your current camera.
