Should I switch from Canon to Nikon?

I have about three canon lenses, an canon external flash, and a canon T2i body. I was wondering if i should sell all my equipment and switch to nikon. Is it worth it? I find that every nikon picture i see looks better than the canons. Tell me what you think.

It would be one of the great stupid moves.

If somebody's shooting better with a Nikon, it's because he's a better photographer than you, not because he has a better camera. I've seen people who've actually ditched Olympus and Pentax to buy into the hype, and they still can't shoot straight.

Invest in a course or buy a couple of books on technique - it's not the camera, it's you.

I'm a Nikon guy, but I would not be switching!

This is why it is so important that people who are planning on buying a dSLR system spend a LOT of time doing independent research and NOT depend upon the opinions of others or the popularity of one system over another by beginners.

Now that you have a good start on a Canon system there's NO reason to switch now unless you have just too much money laying around or that it is a good business decision.

I'm a professional photographer. As such, I'm expected to be able to produce brilliant images each time I press the shutter release on any camera whether it is a Nikon, Canon, Sinar or Hasselblad AND I'm expected to be able to use any camera with equal results.

IF after using both brands, using your skills and shooting under the same conditions, you find that one brand show an edge over the other, then you may have clear evidence, at least in your case, that changing systems is a good idea.

Just because this year one camera system "rates" higher than another, is NO reason to switch systems mid stream so to speak. Changing camera systems can be as costly as a divorce and like a divorce, the longer you have been with your system, with more assets (lenses, additional bodies and accessories), the more it will cost to replace them.

About the time that Nikon introduced its professional D3 at the China Olympics, there were photographers who started migrating to Nikon, replacing their Canon systems.

For a pro, this can make business sense, because if they needed the increased sensor performance in low light when shooting sports, it was a tool they needed that Canon, at the time, could not supply. Add to that, the fact that professionals, depreciate their equipment over time and take that tax deduction. Within five years they will be selling the old equipment as surplus (a great way for an amateur to pick up pro gear at an affordable cost). It is at this time, switching camera brands makes good business sense. Over about 10 years, All the equipment will have been replaced by the new brand without any change in the equipment replacement program established in the photographers business plan and supported by their accountant

If you can't get good photos from your canon, you won't get good photos from a Nikon.

Stay with the Canon. Nikon won't produce better photos. Even Pentax, Sony cameras can give you magazine quality photos.
No, it's not worth it.
