Polaroid Camera: Buy or not?

I want to buy a camera and I'm 14, but I don't want it to be expensive. The polaroid fujifilm camera is inexpensive, and also seems like it does a good job. I don't have that many opportunities to take photos, but when I do, I would like a nice camera to be able to use. Compared to buying Canon or Nikon for £200, I can buy a polaroid camera for about £50/£60 which is amazing. I like that it prints on the wee rectangular bits of film so you can write on them and create memories. Many people have talked about them and said they are good for that sort of thing. The only doubts about them are 1. The film is really expensive 2. You can't choose to print the picture or not, which makes wasting film easier. 3. You can't post the pictures online or anything because you only have a solid copy of the photo.

Can you please give your opinion on whether they are worth buying for the amount of money I would spend on film. If you don't think I should buy this camera, can you please give alternative cameras that are good cameras but for a low price?

Buy it! It's definitely worth it. If you're worried about not posting it online, you can just scan the picture on your printer. Anyways, buying a polaroid is definitely worth it. It's really cute!

A big no! Find a point & shoot camera.

You can buy a Polaroid camera for under $3 in a thrift store, but the film costs nearly $24 for an 8-shot pack

You can buy a Fujifilm Instax camera for under $70 and its film costs about $15 for two 10-shot packs

This means that the Fujifilm camera will cost you the least in the long run.

For around $150 you can buy a P&S camera and make prints of your images later at home or at a chemists for under ¢20 each

You can do the math to see which is the most economical way to for

You will have to buy a scanner to digitize any instant prints you want to share on the internet, so keep that cost in mind as well

The film costs $25 for 8 shots…
Think again

My advice will be to steer well clear of it. As others have said, the film is very expensive. You will pay a lot for just 8 shots and then find that some of them are no good so are wasted,
And, as you say yourself, you won't have instant digital images you can send to anyone.
Buy a digital camera for under £100. You can take hundreds of shots completely free and keep them in folders on your computer.
