In my opinion no. In fact, as I and most pros see it, these EVIL cameras are nothing more than way over rated, way over priced pocket toy cameras that don't even have a view finder… So no.

If you must spend that much money on a camera buy a dslr. Much higher quality, last for many years and a much wider selection of lenses.

Nikon is good but the pentax is a way better product for the money

Worth it compared with what? Similar camera from another manufacturer, or different type of camera? My advice would always to go for a true DSLR at similar price - more versatile and with a good eye-level viewfinder, which is needed for longer lenses.

Otherwise just go for an upper level compact with reasonable zoom range, and lower in price.

It might be worth it, depending on what you use it for.

Some people think that you need a fragile, slow, shaky, and bulky mirror and prism to take any pictures, no matter what. These are the people who think the camera makes the photographer, and spend thousands of dollars on lenses trying to sharpen their pictures when all they need is a mirror lockup (which makes an SLR just about useless).

For someone who wants good technical image quality and versatility in a small package… The mirrorless camera is pretty good.
