Good Nikon or Canon Camera?

I've always wanted a bulkier camera to take pictures with. I'm not a photographer so i don't need anything too big. I'm Only saying Nikon or canon cause i know that's what most people get.last camera i had was just a little bigger than a normal camera and had 18 zoom with i forget how many megapixels.(something happened and they couldn't fix it and i had to get another camera with the warranty)

-has to be from best buy (b/c i have some store credit)
-most i would spend would be is around $300
- has to have good zoom (good for concerts)

some may say you can't take cameras to concerts but I've checked with the ones I'm going to, i can. Leave me recommendations and or links. Thanks!

Plus let me know how the camera charges and takes film

Added (1). Hey Jim, thanks for the answer. I will most likely get the camera i used to have. It was a Nikon with 18 megapixels and 18-22 zoom and it costs around $300

For what you're after you do have a couple of problems.

1. You're short of money. Any camera like you want is at least $500 for a Canon, all the way up to about $800.

2. Concert venues consider any larger camera to be professional and will either turn you away at the gate making you take it back to the car or they'll take it from you.

3. You admit you've never operated such a camera before so spending that much money would be a waste because you don't know how to use it.

I'd recommend a small point and shoot. Those are the only cameras allowed in anyway because of copyright laws.

Not popular, most people don't know it exists. Bad zoom, very short. Lens is interchangeable but it's not a dSLR. It's under $300 but you will want to spend more on at least two other lenses, one of them a fisheye. Only 12MP, not much compared to other bulkier cameras. Not bulky, fits on your palm. Amazing optical quality.
