I just need a camera that takes a good picture and good videos. I don't need any fancy features or add ons all I want is a camera with a good lens that is durable and simple. Which camera has the best resolution and gives the best pictures and videos?

Defenitally Canon EOS 70D! I have That one and the Nikon D3300 and the Cannon focuses much better.

It would help if you picked cameras that are in direct competition.

The Canon 70D is placed opposite the Nikon D7100, NOT the two you listed.

The Canon 70D and Nikon D7100 are semi-pro cameras, both have a metal chassis and environmental seals against moisture and dust

The Nikon D3300 is sold opposite the Canon 1200D/T5

If you can't decide between Canon and Nikon, look at Pentax.

If you shoot video as much as stills, look at Sony.

The best camera for you is the one that feels right in your hands, but it's only fair to point out that Nikon's equivalent of the Canon EOS 70D is the D7100, and the Pentax K-30 is superior to either on paper, while being considerably cheaper.

Ignore the opinion of anyone who can't spell Canon.

I think you are going too fast…

If you don't know or understand what the differences are between these cameras then you should invest your time learning about cameras and working out which brand or model would be more ideal for how you intend to use it…

All the cameras marketed by Canon, Nikon, Pentax/Ricoh and Sony offer incredible quality… It's the specification, function and features that separates each model and that's how most people decide which brand or model to go with…

I'd pop in to your local library and spend some time reading through the photography guide books… Don't just flick through one or two… Read them all… Become informed… And make a better decision… It isn't the camera that makes great images or video… It's just a tool… How good or interesting your photos or video is depends on how well you can use your camera… And you don't always need to invest crazy amounts of money to get great quality… The advantage of the DSLR is that it can be tailored to different subjects… So if you decide to experiment in something different from your 'usual' genre you just add the accessories and lenses you need to help your camera cope with that interest.

Canon 70D which, as people have already said, is a more expensive intermediate-level camera. It will have a much nicer viewfinder, 2 control dials, better build, faster processing. So, given that it will be much nicer to use in terms of controllability you are likely to want to keep it an extra year or two before upgrading.

What was it you didn't like about the more affordable Nikon D5200 and Canon 700D, both of which have articulating LCD screens?

Don't look to the camera and lens for picture quality because that is your responsibility. Those cameras you listed are all good as with any other dSLR out there in the market. The camera and lens are only tools.

Between the 3 cameras that you list, and according to your need, i suggest Nikon D3200 (simple to use + great image quality and HD video + LOW PRICE, so you can invest in lenses, bag, memory card, tripod and maybe a guide as (Nikon D3200 for dummies) for improve your skills and add more fun.
