My Nikon D1x won't turn on

My brother gave me his old Nikon D1x a while ago as a gift, but the camera refuses to turn on. I thought it was because of the battery, so I charged it but still nothing. Is there anything I could do? I'm a little tight on money so buying a new camera is out of the question, all I have is this and other smaller not-as-good cameras.

Its a fairly old camera so the battery could be bad. When there are power issues with a camera, I always suspect the battery first.

See if your brother gave you a battery tray along with the camera. Some of the older Nikon DSLRs had battery trays that you could use for emergency AA Alkaline battery power.

At least then you will know if it is a battery issue or not.

Most Nikon dSLR's will not operate unless * you have a memory card installed and * the lens is in focus.

Check those two things and try again.

I would have your brother check out the camera and see what the problem might be.
