DSLR OR COMPACT DIGITAL?
Please some one help me,
I'm wanting a camera and can't decide between dslr and digital compact.
I have about a £300 budget.
I want something with a good megapixel, decent batter and most importantly a good fps and shutter speed so I can catch moments and fast moving things. My last camera was too slow and the moment was gone by the time the camera shot the photo.
I've been looking at Sony cyber shot compacts, Nikon d3200, canon 1200D.
SOMEONE Please, Help.
Here is what you need to consider before spending your money
* will you be satified with a P&S camera like the Sony Cybershot?
> do you know that a P&S camera has a tiny sensor when compared to a digital SLR?
> do you know that the lens on a P&S camera is fixed?
> do you know that there are few controls on a P&S camera, specifically the ability to chose the lens aperture and shutter speed so you can take photos like star and light trails, light graffiti, stop action found in sports and other action situations by choosing a fast shutter speed?
> shutter lag can be as short as 0.8 second (still rather long when shooting action) up to 3 seconds when using the cameras flash?
* Do you know the actual comparison of sensor size between a P&S camera and digital camera (see link below).
> The larger the sensor the higher quality image is possible
> Large sensors have more colour depth
> Large sensors have more dynamic range
> Larger sensors perform better at high ISO setting used when shooting indoor or night sports
> Shutter lag is measured in milliseconds
In general, it is much better to time your shots when shooting fast moving scenes, rather than depend upon the rapid fire (sometimes called machine gunning or spray and pray) at continuous shooting rates. See second link
Finally, there are the sensor performance issues you should be aware. See the third link.
Hopefully with this information, you will be better able to pick the best camera for your needs
Compact digital will be better.
DSLR if you're serious about photography. A T3i rebel used can be 350 dollars. Worth the extra 50 I think.
Since you can't decide, the correct answer is compact.
