Buy Nikon D3100 now or wait for D3200?

Do you reckon I should buy the D3100 now or wait and see if the successor comes out this month? I need it in time for February so I'm not sure whether to buy the D3100 now:/

Added (1). It would be my first DSLR having just used Compacts and the Galaxy S2 camera.

Not sure, but just to warn you… New models are always way more expensive. I'd personally just get the D3100. But choose whatever feels right for you.

What are you shooting now?

If you already have a D60 or other Nikon dSLR, then wait. If not, look hard at the D5100 camera

You will get better pricing on the 3100, any new features will likely not make that big a deal in the end. The 3100 is a great camera. I looked at the 5100 or the 3100 and got the 3100 and the additional cost did not get something that made a major difference to me. For non pro work, the 3100 has So much capability, it is silly.

as well, by getting the 3100 now, you have plenty of time to play with it.

as a note… One awesome accessory i got was an eye-fi card.http://www.eye.fi/ you can take pics and immediately transfer them to online and your computer (if you have a Wi-Fi network you can get on) OR, directly to an iOS device with no need for an external network. It is beyond cool! For the record, i don't work for them, i just think the card is awesome.

According to Nikonrumors.com… "The next Nikon product announcement will be on February 7th, 2012… Expect new Coolpix cameras and probably the Nikon D800 to be revealed." The other thing they talk about is the new D4… No mention of a D3200.

I would not expect for a successor this month. Nikon already announced the D4 this month, and in Feb is likely to announce the D800.

Nikon is on a 3yr cycle with DSLRs more or less, and since the D3100 was announced in Aug 2010, I would not expect to see a replacement for the D3100 until late in 2013.
