Future Career in as a Lens Designer?

I'm obsessed with the world of photography. That's why I'm hoping to work as a lens designer in one of the major companies like Nikon or Zeiss. I know that I must enter a faculty of Engineering, but I don't know which part of it (eg mechatronics, or technology, etc) so can you enlighten me a bit?
