What camera is best for a beginner?

I want to get a new camera, but I'm nor sure what to get? I want to get a Nikon D5100 but I'm not sure if that's the right one for me? I've never had one of these cameras before but I use my friends a lot and I like it and find it easy to use, and I really want to get into photography?

Don't buy an expensive camera for no reason, especially if you are a beginner…

When you use your friends DSLR is camera set on "auto"? OR do you set shutter speed/aperture ISO?
If all you're doing is pointing and shooting, then you're not ready for a DSLR.

If you are happy using your friend's camera, find it easy to use and get good results from it then go for it. You will be able to swap accessories and help each other learn how to use the camera better. It's a good camera and capable of great results.

The Nikon D5100 will be a great camera to start with.
