I would like to buy a new camera?
I'm looking at buying a new camera. It's a toss up between the Nikon d5100 and the canon 600d? Thoughts please.
I think best camera is camera having high resolution
D5100 all the way. Especially if you're after better photo quality. If you're more focused on video, perhaps go for the 600d, but then again you won't notice much difference in video quality between the two cameras at all. What's more, the D5100 has an extremely useful flip-out/swivel screen that's great for video and will also allow you to protect the screen when not in use. The D5100 is also a good deal cheaper than the canon, and you can pick one up off ebay with kit lens for around £370 new.
You of course looked through and handled both models, and came to the conclusion that one felt more comfortable to see through and the location of the controls was more comfortable to YOU. So why do you need us. Both are excellent cameras.
Add the Pentax K-30 to the list - it accepts, and meters with, MF lenses and Pentax version of IS/VR is built into the body, so it's available whichever lens you use.
If you shoot a lot of video, the Sony A-59 will run rings around any of them.

- Do you think touch screen cameras like the Nikon D5600 make cameras like the Nikon D5 look like 70's computers without the mouse?
