I deleted a photo on my digital camera how can i recover it?

I have a nikon d5100
I deleted a photo by mistake
Any FREE program to recover it?
Also, i took photos with my camera after i accidentaly deleted the pic.
Is it gone forever?

If you go to CVS they can recover it for you. I've done it before, but they don't really like doing it so if they give you a problem just ask for the manager.

It may be gone forever it you took more pictures after you deleted it.

Wondershare can recover files off your SD card. I don't believe wondershare is free, however they will let you try it for free. The way it works is it puts a watermark across recovered pictures until you pay for the program. You could download it, try and see if the picture is there to recover or not. If it's there then you need to decide how bad you want the file.

In the future do NOT use the delete button on the camera.

At the end of each shooting day, copy All the image files to your computer to a new file folder named for the subject and date. Once they are safely there, format the card using the format feature on your camera. This will prevent card corruption in the future.
