6.5 Creedmoor or a 22-250?

Looking to get a new rifle. As the title might have indicated I'm between a 6.5 Creedmoor or a 22-250. The Creedmoor is less expensive but the Nikon 3x9 on it is unacceptable but I have more use for a Creedmoor. On the other side. 22-250 is cheap to shoot, it will help me learn how to compensate for wind, and the glass is of better quality and magnification but I really do not have a need for the caliber. It's too big for turkey, in my opinion its too small for deer, and in eastern South Dakota there's not much for Varmint hunting without driving 3 or 4 hours. Essentially, one will be more useful but requires upgrades first, the other is cheap to shoot and can make me a better shooter.

Added (1). I be more specific. I'm buying one, paying it off in a few months, and then going to buy the other. I plan to keep both indefinitely.

Buy the rifle that you think will be a better match for the type of shooting you want to do. You can always change the scope later if you want a better one.

Seems like an easy decision to me. Get the one most useful to you.

You can shoot inexpensively and learn how to compensate for wind with a.223.

My Dad has killed a lot of deer with a 22-250. As you know, you can't just run down to the local sports shop and pick up some 6.5 Creedmoor. For me that's an important consideration, but maybe it's no big deal for you. Aside from ammo availability consider resale value. If you're buying this gun to make you a better shooter, then how long will you retain it? Will you sell it? If so, the 22-250 will have a much larger audience that it appeals to.
So my answer would be 22-250 for the reasons I mentioned above, but your mileage may vary.

A.22LR is cheap to shoot and can make you a better shooter. The.22-250 is just more expensive to shoot, so unless you're shooting prairie dogs and coyote it isn't of much use to you.

I have a Remington 700 22-250 and it is one of my favorite weapons. A close friend shoots the Creedmoor and he loves it. Get the one that is more useful to you.

Well I'm a handloader and one of those folks who like oddball cartridges so the 6.5 Creedmoor is sort of interesting to me. Unless you handload I suspect the 6.5mm round is going to be expensive and difficult to find.

If you can shoot, set your 22-250 1/4" low at 25 yards. Any deer is downed with a neck shot all the way to 250 yards. If you can shoot.

Ironically, I was in a gun shop today as I can't find a AR10 platform ready made that fits all my wants in requirements. So, it appears I'll have the shop build me one. So, I was talking with a couple of other guys in the shop. I told them I was wanting either a 6.5 Creedmore or a .308. The huge guys said a .308 has more knockdown power but not as good for distance, while the other guy was medium build and said a 6.5CM is best all around. Since I'm about 5'5" and medium build, I'm leaning toward the 6.5CM, but will ammo always be readily available or would I also need to invest in reloading gear? Anyone else ever found themself in a similar situation?
