Will Nikon go touch screen?
Canon likes gimiks but nikon has superior image quality. Will nikon enter?
Added (1). John P i asked this on Y! A not nikon website. So i'm asking for there opinions.
The Coolpix S100 and S4300 have a touch screen. And they have had at least one or two touch screen models for a few years.
Only Nikon knows what Nikon has planned, so ask Nikon.
It's hard to predict which bandwagon Nikon will climb on and when. I would not have expected Nikon to cram 36 MP into the D800 or 24 MP into the D3200, but they did.
Nobody but Nikon can know for sure, but I wouldn't be surprised if one of the next lower end DSLRs had a touchscreen.
About 30% of digital camera consumers seem solidly convinced that Nikon cameras produce higher-quality images, and about as many firmly believe that Canon is better.
Neither is right.
Touchscreen cameras are a concession to people migrating from smart phones, and they're not always a good idea for cameras. I personally don't like them, because they're useless when your eyes are on the viewfinder or the subject. Give me tactile feedback.
But people raised on iPhones and Droids want it, so if it's at all possible, they'll probably do it on their consumer cameras.
Plenty of their P&S cameras have touchscreens.
As for DSLRs, I hope Nikon doesn't follow Canon's T4i…
I think it is a 99% certainty that entry level DSLRs from all manufacturuers will have touch screen within the next year or so.
They want to tap the "if I get a professional camera I will take professional photos" brigade and they demand point and shoot / cell phone gadgetry on their "professional" cameras.
