Depends what's important to you…
If you need the articulated screen then the D5100/D5200/D5300 are what you should be looking at… The articulated screen is great when shooting video.
If on the other hand you enjoy quick access to regularly used features and functions, a built in motor for focussing, twin memory card slots… And the option to use a dedicated Nikon Manufactured battery grip… Then the D7100 is for you.
Nikon do not support the D5000 cameras with battery grips, although third party grips are available… Third party grips aren't the most reliable.
I actually bought the D5100 and D7100… I'm a big fan of the D5100 it's a fantastic camera for the price, great value for money.
