I'm looking at a canon 550d (rebel T2i) or a 600d (rebel T3i).So between the both which one would you prefer and why. Thanks in advance.

If people answer, neither or get a nikon instead, will be ignored.

Added (1). Jim A, i've been into photography for years and also own a 500d, but i have recently come into a large amount of money and i'm thinking about getting a new dslr, the 500d as you say is a good camera, but mine is quite old now so thats why i'm thinking of buying a new one. I just wanted peoples opinions on the said dslr's.

Being a Canon owner I like both. But you have some questions to answer for yourself. Have you used a dslr? Do you know how to operate one properly for best results? Are you an experienced photographer?

I ask these because if you are thinking about doing "snaps" with either of these you're waisting a lot of money. If you're think that these cameras are advanced point and shoot pocket toys… You're waisting money.

Me I would prefer the 600D because of having some control during video and the articulated screen.
However for me it's a little rich and my 500D does everything I ask of it - very well.

The t3i is mostly for beginners so if you are one then get it

Both 550D and 600D use the same sensor, which has much less noise than the 500D. Just because a camera is old it doesn't mean its bad, I hope you're not replacing it just because you want something new, but because you want more from the camera.

The only difference between these two is in the articulating screen and better manual audio levels on the T3i. If you won't do professional videos where people talk a lot, don't bother getting it.
