Why can't i view pictures on the nikon computer software?

So on the nikon computer software, i click on an image from the thumbnail and instead of showing the picture, it shows a black screen with little splotches of color wherever the most color was. How do i get out of this mode?

Either the full size photo is corrupted some how or I agree… Check help.
