Which Nikon or Canon is best for a amateur photographer?

I'm looking for a good but a few hundred dollar Nikon or Canon camera for amateur photographer. Just starting off even though I did some camera work in high school. I'm just looking to start off small an then work my way up. Anybody know done good type of Canon or Nikon cameras that can be used with a changeable lens?

Nikon D3100 or Canon 1100D (known as rebel t3 in america).

Out of these i would suggest the nikon but at this level i wouldnt worry, you won't go wrong with any DSLR at this stage.
