Which DSLR camera is right for me?

I'm on the hunt for a new camera and I'm not sure which one to get. I'm still a beginner but I'm looking to improve with the help of this camera. I would prefer Nikon or Canon. Decent zoom, good manual and auto focus and it MUST have a video setting. Also I'm looking for a good price, so any less than 600$(Canadian) would be nice.

I would go with a D3100, but please do your research also.

The only one that I'd recommend with your money is the Canon t3.It does 720 HD video and is, like all Canon cameras, excellent.
