Which camera is right for me?

I wanted to get the Nikon d3000 or the Sony - NEX-3. I wanted an SLR but i don't know the difference between these 2. Which camera is better and why? What are the advantages. And is the sony really that many more megapixels than the nikon? Because it says its just a "digital camera" and not an SLR. Please help. And if anyone knows where i can get a nikon d3100 for cheaper than 650$ where.

The D3000 is a dSLR while the NEX3 is an EVIL camera. The dSLR uses an optical viewfinder while the EVIL has an electronic viewfinder. Optical viewfinders allow you to shoot faster and catch the moment. EVIL may suffer from shutter lag but allows you to have a larger view of the picture from the large rear LCD.

Well, I would get a Canon EOS 500D or a 550D.
Canon is better than Nikon, and Sony makes overpriced cameras.
The EOS 500D is also called the Rebel T1i, and the 550D is also called the Rebel T2i.
