Which camera Nikon vs cannon?
What camera is better or what do you prefer and why?
I would buy the camera instead of a gun. But you might also give consideration to the Pentax line as well as Nikon and CANON. All 3 are great cameras, it amounts to which is more comfortable to view through and handle plus has the accessories that would interest you in the future.
It totally depends
what your experiences are with cameras are? DSLR or Compact
i guess you could compare it to mac and pc.whatever you have used more of your life is going to be easier to use. There are a few little things like canon has more lenses and nikon has better ratings.apples to apples. Some more info here: http://blog.londolozi.com/2011/05/canon-vs-nikon-which-is-better/
Cannons don't take pictures because Cannons go BOOM

A huge difference between the two.
It shouldn't be on which one that we prefer which it should be on which one that You prefer.
This type of question gets asked about which Camera Manufacture, Camera Model is better, recommended, or "Which One I Should Get" far too often.
It comes down to personal preference where some may like how Nikon feels in their hands or how the layout of the Nikon Cameras are. Vice Verse on Canon Cameras.
Nikon fans would be saying to get Nikon. Same thing with Canon Fans where they would be saying to get Canon.
So otherwise it all comes down to personal preference
It's a toss up. I take it you mean DSLRS. Go to camera store, handle each one-you don't have to buy it there. Find out which would be easier for you in changing settings shutter speed/aperture, ISO etc. How easy is it to go from menu to different applications.
IF you're talkin' point and shoots there's a lot out there that will give very good photos. Together with Nikon and Canon there's Fuji, Olympus, Panasonic, Sony etc.
Stay away from Bargain brands such as: GE, Kodak, Sanyo, Holga, and Vivitar.
In my personal opinion upon moving from nikon film to canon digital is that nikon lenses has better quality than canon's, except for the L grade lenses. NIkon seems to be on higher premium in cost.
If you know only two manufacturers and can't spell one of them, a camera is the least of your worries.
Pentax take MF lenses (sorry Canon) and meter with them (sorry Nikon). All Pentax AF lenses autofocus with any Pentax AF body (sorry again, Nikon).
Sony still have the edge on video over either.
Olympus are smaller and lighter.
Either find a dealer, explain your budget and handle a couple of candidates, or walk under a bus.
