I want a Nikon or a Cannon. I'm only a amateur at taking photos. But what i was going to do with my camera was taking night pictures of the sky or family photos or just simple things like that.

so please help me find the right camera: )

So what kind of camera do you want?

and more importantly, what is your budget?

Well, you have said two things that contradict themselves.
you mentioned high market brands such as canon and nikon.however, you forgot about the secet big boy brand and that is fujifilm.
Also, your looking for something with good quality that is just like point and shoot.
i would suggest something that shoots raw.
you never mentioned your budget… But if you want easy shooting and great quality spend about £220.
I recommend the Fujifilm EXR F600 or the F660 or F770.
Canon S100
These are known as advanced compacts.
All the above will provide you with very professional shots.
The raw shhoot capability of the Fujifilms will be ideal for when you upload and decide to edit on picasa, if the pic requires it. (picasa is free).
Personally I use the Fujifilm. The Fujifilm have a better zoom ability. The Canon has a better macro lens… But your not gonna take pics from like 2cm away from a person! Lol! Unless you wanna capture someone's unique eye detail and have just the eye in the shot! Lol!
f770 has geo tagging too which is great and handy! It shows your location when you load up to facebook!

if you want someting thats a very easy and just a consumer camera the Samsung-DV300F. Its also cheaper… But it does not use cmos sensors and most people in the business prefer cmos sensors.canon and fujifilm are the best for cmos sensors. The samsung uses ccd, not cmos.
but it has a front screen so you take pictures of yourself and a mate/partner etc.very nice tool!

its down to money!
however, fujifilm are so easy to use…

samsung does have built in Wi-Fi too though.never need to take the memory card out again once you link to your home network!

let me know what your price range is!

Take a look at Canon 550D. It's called the Canon Rebel T2i in the US. It has an 18 mega pixel sensor and takes great photos. It also has 1080 HD video, with a choice of frame rates. The video quality is superb, it looks great on my high definition TV.

You go with Canon PowerShot SX40 HS Digital Camera, that is full of all those things that can evoke a cameraperson within you. It boasts of 12.1 Million Pixels to make vision all clear to you and the one in photo both.
