Which camera brand is better. Nikon or Canon?

I'm a beginning photographer and I'm looking to buy a nice DSLR camera. I'm just not sure which brand is better. Nikon or Canon.
I was thinking Nikon because I've some great work produced by a Nikon on Flickr.
Also if you have any specific models that are really good. Please let me know. I'm trying to find a specific model so I can start looking for good deals.

I say Canon. Someone says Nikon, and now who is correct?

The fact that you saw great shots from Nikon on flickr only mean the photographer was good. I mean you didn't really expect answers like "Canon is 18% sharper, or Nikon has 42% nicer colors". There's no better brand, it depends on which model you are comparing and even then, with all DSLRs it depends on you more.

Canon EOS T2i, T3i, Nikon D3100 would be the best.
