I really want a nice, high quality SLR dig.camera. But I can't decide if I should get a Nikon, Canon, you know. Looking for something under 1000-1500$.

I know that Nikon is the best but for prices I don't know.

Well, hm, we've have not had this question for at least 4 hours.

Go to a shop, handle some, see which one feels good.

Actually I think I saw this question just a few minutes ago… What is it with you people, don't do research at all?

There's no "better" when it comes to these brands.

Neither is any better. They both make excellent DSLR's. They are the leaders in the industry right now. The better camera will be the one that fits you, does what you need it to do and does it in a way that is right to YOU. For me that is Canon. For many others that is Nikon.
You need to take a look at the features on the cameras in your price range. Decide which ones sound important to you and which ones you can live without. If there's something you think you NEED make sure to make a note of that.
Then go to a store where you can hold and play with one of each. See what camera feels right to you.change the settings, feel where everything is and if it fits you right.

The current cameras in your price range would be Canon: 60D and if you push a bit the 7D
Nikon the D7000. Both are pretty impressive cameras that will serve you from very basic learning through advanced shooting. Enjoy!

None.Come on, pros use Canon and Nikon. That means both are the same, it depends on how you work with the camera.

Canon EOS T2i, T3i, 60D, Nikon D5100 and D7000 would be excellent.
