I need a tripod for my nikon s3000.
however, I'm not sure where I could get one specifically for a digital camera like that.

Seriously? Try the place where you bought the camera. You will find tripods that are more than adequate at most, if not all, electronics and department stores. They are usually located with the camera bags and memory cards, near the cameras themselves.
